RouteWeather privacy

Effective August 2, 2026. This page describes the current RouteWeather 2.1 planner.

Saved trips stay in your browser. RouteWeather does not place saved origins, destinations, or stops in a shared server-side trip list.

What is processed when you plan

Your origin, destination, optional stops, departure time, and planning preferences are sent to the RouteWeather server so it can calculate the route. The server sends the minimum location or coordinate data needed to routing, geocoding, weather, alert, fuel-information, and charging-location providers shown in the planner’s Data Sources panel.

RouteWeather does not intentionally use trip locations for advertising profiles and does not sell them. Hosting and infrastructure providers may process standard request information such as IP address, user agent, timestamps, and security logs.

Saved trips

When you select Save, the request is stored with browser localStorage on that device. It is not synced between devices. Anyone with access to the same browser profile may be able to see it. You can delete individual saved trips in the Saved trips panel or clear site data in your browser.

Measurement

RouteWeather records coarse product events such as “plan trip,” selected route style, and stop count. These events are designed not to include the entered location text, precise coordinates, email, phone number, or a cross-site advertising identifier.

External searches and affiliate links

Hotel, flight, rental, charger, fuel, food, and map buttons open a third-party site. That provider receives the normal information sent by your browser and any search terms encoded in the link. Clearly labeled Sponsored links may include an affiliate identifier. Review the destination provider’s privacy choices before continuing.

Retention and security

Route calculations are returned to the browser and are not intentionally added to a persistent user-history database. Short-lived in-memory caches can contain provider responses for reliability and performance. No internet service can promise perfect security; avoid entering sensitive personal information as a stop name.

Children and changes

RouteWeather is a general travel-planning tool and is not directed to children under 13. Material privacy changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
